Giving you back your dignity
We are passionate about representing clients who have been poorly treated whilst under the care of East Lancashire Hospitals (which have been identified as some of the worst in the country), and we can offer consultations in Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati and Cantonese.
Episiotomies and Medical Negligence
We specialise in medical negligence claims arising as a result of botched episiotomies. An episiotomy is performed during the second stage of labour under local anaesthetic and involves making a small incision to avoid excessive vaginal tearing during the baby’s birth. This procedure should only ever be undertaken if medical professionals believe it will assist with the delivery of the baby, but unfortunately, if an episiotomy is negligently performed or negligently repaired, severe complications can arise. These include – but are not limited to – incontinence, sexual dysfunction, bruising, and prolonged pain and discomfort.
You may be entitled to compensation if you have suffered any of the above symptoms in the aftermath of your episiotomy and you believe:
– A blunt instrument was used
– The wound was not stitched properly
– You were cut in the wrong direction (an episiotomy should involve a small, diagonal cut, NOT a vertical one)
– The incision caused internal damage
– The procedure was unnecessary
If you believe your episiotomy has adversely affected your quality of life and that your Doctor or Midwife breached their duty of care by failing to repair the wound properly or performing the procedure itself incorrectly, then we would like to hear from you. Seeking help from our specialist solicitors will help you claim the compensation you deserve.
